Marcin Cieślak

Online since 1992, Marcin Cieślak has been involved in many aspects
of the Internet and information technology.

In 1990s he was responsible for design, deployment and maintenance
of Warsaw School of Economics campus network.

In 2000s he was responsibe for deployment of the broadband cable
Internet access services in Germany as well as launching the technical
platform to suport telephone services over cable.

In his consulting capacity, Marcin Cieślak implemented workflow and
trouble ticketing platforms for ISPs and telecommunication companies.

Marcin Cieślak co-operated with the Organization for Security and
Co-operation in Europe
as the electronic voting expert and has
served on the election observation missions in that role: in 2007
in Kazakhstan and during the 2008 federal election (presidential
and the 111th Congress) in the United States, co-authoring election
reports published by the OSCE.

Marcin Cieślak has been involved with ISOC since 2000, when he was
one of the founders of the Internet Society chapter in Poland. He
has served on the Advisory Board of the chapter since 2004, and in
January 2006 he was elected to the interim board and then re-elected
the chapter President in June 2006.

The Internet Society Poland is currently a volunteer-run organisation
with strong think-tank activities. It is considered to be one of
the leading ICT expert organisations in Poland. ISOC Poland along
with the industry members has started Coalition for Open Standards,
a multi-stakeholder initiative that was a major force behind the
establishment of open standards as the basis of the legal framework
in the areas of information society, technology and telecommunications.

Marcin Cieślak has co-authored reports on the electronic signature
(2006) and electronic voting (2007) which were widely publicised
and commented in the Polish media. Marcin Cieślak is a member of
the Polish board of the UNESCO Information for All programme to
represent the Internet community.

Marcin Cieślak is a member of the Polish and German chapters
of the Internet Society and serves on the Supervisory Board
of Internet Society German Chapter, e.V.
